Books on Napoleon Dynamite

There seem to be three books on the subject of Napoleon Dynamite so far:

Napoleon Dynamite: The Complete Quote Book

This is probably only for the die hard fan, because many websites already contain popular quotes for easy print-out. Still, at least Amazon’s customers seemed to like it, and gave it an overall rating of 4 and 1/2 stars so far. However, there’s a catch-22 involved here, as one Amazon visitor by the name of Ed Leed points out in his review:

This book is exactly what the title claims it is, a book full of quotes from the film. But since fans of the movie ALREADY have all of the best quotes memorized and in daily use, this book is best used by casual fans who might remember some amusing moments, but they didn’t get into the film enough to trade quotes with their friends at work, school, or around the house, on a regular basis. Unfortunately, casual fans probably don’t care enough to purchase a Napoleon Dynamite book. “Idiots!”

Napoleon Dynamite: Flippin’ Sweet

The cover to this one shows Napoleon doing his infamous dance moves in the white “Vote for Pedro” shirt. But what’s the book all about? Well, it shows Napoleon dancing if you flip the pages!

Taming A Liger: Unexpected Spiritual Lessons From Napoleon Dynamite

This particular unexpected book is a sort of companion to the movie which isn’t really about the movie, or not in a direct sense. Instead, authors Jeff Dunn and Adam Palmer have created 24 lessons that give tips to surviving bullies and other Napoleon-like pitfalls in life... by giving religious advice. Here’s an example:

Napoleon just wants to go home early. He’s had a rough day at school already, dealing with Don’s mockery and Randy’s outright bullying. He just had his head banged against a locker, and he wants out.

So he calls Kip and starts tying to talk Kip into getting him out of there. Kip is obviously very busy right that second with, and this is pure conjecture, making the biggest plate of nachos ever. (...)

To put this into perspective, the Israelites has been under a severely oppressive regime in Egypt. They were forced into very difficult labor and generally seen as second-class citizens for the past hundred years or so. Moses came along as God’s emissary and miraculously led them out of Egypt and into the wilderness, where they were on their way to the promised land.

That third book may be the single most hilarious thing.
