Napoleon Dynamite Dance Clones

If you saw the movie, you remember Napoleon Dynamite did an incredible dance. Apparently he learned the skills in front of TV (and they say TV doesn’t teach you anything). The dance is a bit aerobic like, a bit disco, a bit cheesy and a bit cool. And it comes totally unexpected because prior to the final dance, Napoleon hasn’t shown us any expressive skills at all.

Some people liked the Napoleon dance so much, they reenacted it on their own school stage. Google Video has a selection of many of those videos (if Google Video is disabled in your country, install the Google Web Accelerator):

• The original dance from the movie performed to the funky music of Jamiroquai. Napoleon starts shaking his feet and head, his hands in his pockets. Throughout the dance he’s wearing the red-on-white “Vote for Pedro” t-shirt, moon boots, blue jeans, and a black digital watch.
• Dengel performs a clone dance on stage. I’m giving this 8 out of 10.
• Apparently, this dance on red and white checkerboard tiles was for a talent show contest. There’s the “Vote for Pedro” shirt, but no music...
• Neal is performing the dance to a screaming crowd. The timing seems a bit off, but the moon boots are there, so this’ll get a 7 out of 10.
• Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder) visits the David Letterman show, and also performs a small dance.
• Anthony Prochaska, student from a junior high-school, performs the Napoleon Dynamite dance for the school’s variety show. There’s a little too much light in the room. Well, he’s trying. 5 out of 10.
• Rob is dancing the dance. The shirt is right, the shoes are wrong. Some of the dance moves, like the rope puller, the moon walk, the roll-over, the proud swan, or the pelvis, are well done. The costume’s on target as well, only missing the right boots. 8 out of 10.
• Strictly speaking, this Spider-Man dance was first. But doesn’t he look like he’s performing the Napoleon moves?
• This dance by Zach Wilson is actually quite good. It’s performed in Wal-Mart to the sound of a Casio keyboard.
